The Drivers Ed Instructor performs as an instructor in a regular classroom setting, presenting instructions in designated subject area
Utilizes approved State of New York Driving education curriculum and resources
Responsible for adequate classroom preparation.
Maintains student Driving records in accordance with State and Federal Law
Creates and tracks student driving progress and reports to the Academic Manager weekly
Tracks student daily attendance to be handed at the end of each week to the Academic Manager
Assists student and staff in the completion of all necessary State, Federal, and Job Corps forms as it relates to the driving program.
Enter students Drivers licenses and permits into CIS3-G
Work with outside agencies to effectively schedule student driving test
Maintains all required certifications required to conduct the duties of state Driving Instructor for both classroom and on the road.
Minimum: Must hold State of New York Class A and B Driver Education certification and must maintain said certification at all times
Preferred: One year in a teaching capacity with disadvantaged youth
Knowledge Required: Knowledge of required subject area, excellent communication skills, both oral and written, excellent organizational skills, must obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid Certification, ability to motivate and inspire students, ability to effectively relate to student population
