    Responsibilities

    The Recreation Supervisor works together with students and staff to develop a program for their leisure time

    • Supervises all recreation/non-vocational staff activity insuring that students receive instruction in the safety aspects of all activities, e.g., drown proofing.  Conducts in-service staff training session
    • Plans and arranges for all on-center activities, to include provision for cultural activities, arts and crafts, sports and games
    • Maintains recreation/non-vocational supplies and equipment, and orders replacements as necessary
    • Submits timely reports on recreation/non-vocational activities
    • Formulates and recommends new or revised recreation/non-vocational programs to the Residence Director
    • Insures that all programs comply with DOL requirements
    • Makes community contacts with directors of recreational facilities to create a favorable impression and to develop rapport
    • Valid Drivers License 

    Qualifications

    Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in physical education or related field. Two year’s experience in supervising recreation/non-vocational programs, including athletics, sports and crafts, music and drama.

     

    Required: Must possess a valid State driver’s license.  Ability to obtain a CDL if required. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Working knowledge of various recreation/avocational activities. Must obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid certification. Ability to effectively relate to student population. Ability to inspire students and staff
