Responsibilities

The ACT/OTP Coordinator performs as an instructor in a regular classroom setting, presenting instructions in designated subject areas.

  • Demonstrates and abides by the Company Core Values and the operating principles
  • Develops and implements a center Advanced Career Training and Off Center Training Program based on goals and objectives as determined by Job Corps guidelines
  • Develops a program that will generate ACT/OTP opportunities for students; meets with college personnel to explore all possible avenues for placement.
  • Reviews records to ascertain which students would benefit from college programs.
  • Assists in processing and maintenance of records of students in the ACT/OTP Program and prepares required reports on enrollments.
  • Conducts tours of the center for college personnel; serves as guest speaker on and off center to promote the ACT/OTP program.
  • Assists students in registering for, and scheduling classes and other matters as needed for college enrollment
  • Monitors student attendance, progress and performance while enrolled in ACT/OTP program.
  • Conducts individual and group counseling sessions with assigned students regarding educational and personal development.

Qualifications

Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in work related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. One year work related experience

 

Preferred: Experience with youth from disadvantaged background preferred.

 

General Information: 

In order to perform the essential job functions of this position, candidate must be able to compose/write descriptive reports; use appropriate techniques to implement programmatic activities; verbally direct individuals and groups; remedy  dysfunctional behavior; intervene with students in crisis with aggression control/safe physical management restraint techniques; successfully complete mandated training courses.  Extensive practical knowledge of requirements for college enrollment, PELL Grants, and FAFSA

 

Knowledge Required:  Knowledge of methods needed to instill appropriate behavior as well as work and study habits in adolescent students; of housekeeping techniques and management; to read, comprehend, interpret, communicate and execute instructions or directives fluently in English.
