Residential Advisors provide a safe, supportive, and predictable environment in dormitory supervision of Job Corps trainees in their daily activities, monitoring their progress in attaining performance contract goals and objectives and utilizing behavior management and intentional and consistent Core Value driven practices.  Conducts dormitory operations in accordance to Center operating policy and procedures and in accordance with CSD Operating Procedures. - Assists students in adjusting to Center life by providing supervision, behavior modification, and acting as a mentor. - Ensures that students meet required schedule, waking on time and being on time for work or school assignments. - Ensures that students are adequately prepared for the training day;students are dressed appropriately, etc. - Practices and models core values, as well as, conducts groups teaching and clarifying Core Values for students, with Case Manager assistance. - Provides daily supervision or assistance in monitoring students in personal hygiene, room/chore assignments, special recreation activities, cafeteria monitoring, transportation and programmed activities. - Provides informal counseling in relation to stress management, personal problems, emergency or home situations, etc., with students, and provides insight into responsible behaviors and attitudes.

The Outreach and Admissions Counselor conducts outreach activities with community partners to create referral partnerships that refer eligible applicants for enrollment in the Job Corps Program. Plans, manages and coordinates community relations activities. - Understands, supports, and practices the Core Values in all aspects of job performance and interactions with staff and trainees. - Establishes and develops meaningful relationships with members of the local community to keep them well informed about Job Corps training opportunities for qualified youth. - Regularly makes presentations about Job Corps and eligibility requirements to community partners, schools, youth groups, etc. - Develops MOUs with community partners to establish meaningful and productive referral partnerships to ensure a consistent flow of eligible applicants to Outreach and Admissions Counselors. - Tracks and analyzes on an on-going basis the effectiveness and efficiency of outreach programs. - Formulates plans, reports on linkages between the outreach and admissions contract and Department of Labor and various community agencies. - Monitors social media and reviews and approves positive stories for posting. - Develops public awareness materials such as newsletters, brochures, posters, etc.  Develops marketing materials to reach targeted groups (i.e. young woman, underserved populations, etc.) to engage and encourage enrollment. - Ensures the full utilization and distribution of Job Corps developed marketing materials - May participate on community service boards and local workforce and training associations, etc. - Provides referrals to support center Industry and Community Relations Councils. - Attends in-service training sessions. - Provides in-service training for departmental staff as required.

The TEAP Specialist is responsible for the design, development and coordination of the Alcohol and Other Drugs of Abuse Prevention/Intervention Program.   - Designs, develops and implements all programs related to substance use and abuse prevention and intervention in conjunction with the Mental Health Consultant, Counseling and Health Services staff, Center Physician and Center Director. - Coordinates all programs designed to reduce and eliminate substance use and abuse. - Works with Health and Wellness staff and Center Standards Office for the collection of drug test specimens, the documentation of results, and the consultation with students regarding results. - Provides individual counseling for students regarding substance abuse and prevention, and healthy choices. - Prepares and facilitates group sessions with students enrolled in the center’s TEAP program. - Schedules and facilitates student activities related to the center’s TEAP program. - Conducts weekly presentations for all new students regarding TEAP services, prevention, education, intervention, and Job Corps policies. - Conducts regular presentations for all students participating in program areas and transitioning out of the Job Corps program on managing substance misuse, abuse, and dependency issues in the workplace. - Develops and facilitates three annual center-wide substance use prevention and education activities. - Conducts in-service training sessions with both staff and students in all areas related to substance use and abuse. - Submits recommendations to the Center Director for medical separations related to substance misuse and abuse in conjunction with the Mental Health Consultant, center physician, and Health and Wellness Manager. - Acts as liaison between the center and agency resources and referral contacts. - Completes drug use risk assessments on all new intake students in conjunction with Mental Health Consultant and Counseling. - Monitors behavior and progress of students involved in TEAP. - Maintains confidential reports and records on all referrals and cases. Maintains all documentation of student results and group and activity participation. - Complete pre-arrival phone calls to new applicants on an as needed basis. - Prepares and submits appropriate reports as required. - Facilitates Healthy Eating and Active Lifestyle (HEALS) groups in conjunction with Recreation and Health and Wellness Staff.
