Maintenance Engineer is responsible for maintaining and repairing physical structures of buildings, mechanical equipment, etc.
- Demonstrates and abides by the Company Core Values and the operating principles
- Performs general maintenance and repairs of buildings, furnishings and equipment center-wide
- Consults with Maintenance/Logistics Supervisor in the preparation of specifications for construction and modification work
- Reads and works from blueprint specifications
- Analyzes and repairs problems with appliances, heating and air-conditioning units
- Makes periodic inspections of center mechanical equipment; adjusts and services them as necessary
- Maintains buildings performing routine and minor/major painting, plumbing, electrical, carpentry and other related maintenance activities
- Establishes and maintains records relating to periodic maintenance of center mechanical equipment
- May operate trucks and other center vehicle
- Performs other duties as assigned
The Customer Service and Retail Sales Instructor performs as an instructor in a regular classroom setting, presenting instructions in designated subject areas – Customer Service & Sales
- Promotes a positive and desirable atmosphere within the classroom setting to insure maximum student motivation
- Maintains a high degree of discipline within the classroom setting in order to insure maximum learning
- Establishes a high degree of student/instructor rapport
- Utilizes all possible curriculum resources available
- Responsible for the maintenance of student personnel folders
- Records and forwards daily attendance to the Student Records area
- Accountable for the cleanliness of classrooms
- Responsible for reports required by the Manager such as student/staff hours, requisitions and monthly student evaluations
- Assists Manager during scheduled inventory
Residential Advisors provide a safe, supportive, and predictable environment in dormitory supervision of Job Corps trainees in their daily activities, monitoring their progress in attaining performance contract goals and objectives and utilizing behavior management and intentional and consistent Core Value driven practices. Conducts dormitory operations in accordance to Center operating policy and procedures and in accordance with CSD Operating Procedures.
- Assists students in adjusting to Center life by providing supervision, behavior modification, and acting as a mentor.
- Ensures that students meet required schedule, waking on time and being on time for work or school assignments.
- Ensures that students are adequately prepared for the training day;students are dressed appropriately, etc.
- Practices and models core values, as well as, conducts groups teaching and clarifying Core Values for students, with Case Manager assistance.
- Provides daily supervision or assistance in monitoring students in personal hygiene, room/chore assignments, special recreation activities, cafeteria monitoring, transportation and programmed activities.
- Provides informal counseling in relation to stress management, personal problems, emergency or home situations, etc., with students, and provides insight into responsible behaviors and attitudes.

The Career Transition Specialist is responsible for counseling students in all aspects of career transition readiness, job search skills, job placement issues, job retention, and Job Corps student exit processes. Responsible for identifying exited students who are no longer employed or in school and ensure a reconnection with another placement, school, or a Remote Career Transition Specialist.
- Conducts interviews with students entering the Career Transition Phase of CDSS. Provides re-orientation and further focus on job search techniques
- Creates and maintains a caseload of active student files, establishing a tickler system for caseload management, maintains bi-weekly or (at minimum) monthly contact through telephone correspondence
- Visits classrooms and trade shops to familiarize students with Career Transition processes, employability skills, career preparation, job search, job retention, etc. Familiarizes students with Advance Training, military, and job offers
- Coordinates mock interview sessions. Assists in the coordination of job fairs and career days
- Maintains linkages with military services, One Stop and other external resources, maintain job banks, secures and post job leads, set up job interview, arranges transportation assistance and other support services. Performs job development by screening leads from newspaper classifieds, telephone, and personal contacts, referrals, Internet, and other youth service organizations
- Ensures that all necessary licenses, certificates, transcripts and/or any pertinent document that will aid in job search are completed/obtained preferably prior to students’ exit
- Identifies support services needed for relocation, makes referrals to support services agencies. Develops and maintains a resource center for support services
- Serves as chairperson of the student’s Career Assessment Panel and submits appropriate reports
- Participates in individual or group counseling services in coordination with Social Development Department and Mental Health Consultant, as needed
- Upon learning of a lost placement, intensifies contact frequency and presents job offers to contacted students, reminds students of importance of job search and job retention. With ongoing contact and cooperation with Remote Career Transition Specialists, secures and arranges for potential job interviews for former enrollees
The Residential Counselor provides safe, supportive and predictable environment in dormitory supervision of Job Corps trainees in their daily activities, monitoring their progress in attaining performance contract goals and objectives and utilizing behavior management and intentional and consistent Core Value driven practices. Conducts dormitory operations in accordance to Center operating policy and procedures and in accordance with Career Systems Development Operating Procedures.
- Assists students in adjusting to Center life by providing supervision, behavior modification and acting as a role model and mentor.
- Ensures that students meet required schedule, waking up on time, and/or going to bed on time, ready to report to educational and training activities on time and or work assignments.
- Ensures that students are adequately prepared for the training day; students are dressed appropriately, in compliance with Center dress code, etc.
- Adheres to all PRH and CSDC policies and procedures, and the Center Operating Procedures.
- Practices and models Core Values, as well as, conducts small groups (which may include Guided Group Interaction), dorm meetings, reinforces and models Career Success Standards for students, acts as a member of the student’s case management team.
- Provides daily supervision or assistance in monitoring students in personal hygiene, room/chore assignments, special recreation activities, cafeteria monitoring, transportation as needed, and other scheduled program activities.
- Provides counseling related to stress management, personal issues, adjustment issues, and retention, etc., with students, and provides insight into responsible behavior and attitudes.
The Recreation Assistant is responsible for the recreation/non-vocational activities of assigned students.
- Organizes, conducts and directs recreation/non-vocational activities.
- Supervises student recreation/non-vocational activities, on and off center.
- Assists in the planning and formulation of student recreation/non-vocational programs with special emphasis on the safety aspects of each activity.
- May order supplies and equipment.
- Instructs, assists, and encourages the students’ participation in recreation/non-vocational equipment.
- Maintains recreation/non-vocational equipment.
- Coaches or supervises various sports activities.
- Attends required staff training sessions.
- Maintains professional relationships between staff and students, abiding by the Employee Rules of Conduct.
- Ensures the cleanliness of all assigned Recreational areas.
Develop, implement and monitor the Mental Health Program to include staff development, mental health counseling of students, AODA (Alcohol and Other Drugs of Abuse) program counseling, according to the Job Corps Federal Regulations and the (PRH) Policy and Requirements Handbook. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Demonstrates and abides by the Company Core Values and the operating principles.
- Responsible for the development, implementation and monitoring of the Center’s Mental Health Program, including supervision of all mental health interns and employees.
- Advises the Center Director and Health Services staff of all mental health matters.
- Conducts staff development and training in the use of mental health principles and techniques.
- Develops, schedules and documents weekly staff training as required by Job Corps Federal Regulations and the PRH.
- Consults and promotes the coordination and integration of mental health with other Center programs and activities, including Counseling, Residential Life, Education and Recreation in cooperation with Center Health Services staff and other Center staff.
- Provides consultation with Health Services staff and all other appropriate staff concerning Mental Health issues with students.
- Develops constructive programs for meeting students’ mental health issues and working with the Center disciplinary, maximum benefits, inter-group relations and the AODA prevention programs.
- Documents and submits forms and correspondence to local, State and Federal agencies to meet all requirements of the program.
- Ensures and maintains confidentiality of all records.
- Issues and maintains Standing Orders on all mental health issues as required by the Federal Job Corps program.
- Provides evaluation and diagnostic services to inpatient or outpatient students.
- Provides limited psychiatric treatment as permitted by licensure.
- Provides appropriate case information to Center staff on a need-to-know basis.
- Arranges off Center referrals and treatments (inpatient and outpatient) as needed, according to Job Corps health directives.
- Provides on-call mental health services for emergencies, 24 hours per day, 7 days a week. MHC may provide services by phone or in person. May choose arrangements for services on behalf of the Center for appropriate services.
- Provides documentation and referrals of students who are recommended for termination from the program.
Responsibilities
The Custodian is responsible for performing general maintenance duties throughout the center.
- Transports students by automobile to various vocational sites.
- Inspects vehicles and reports any mechanical issues to Lead Driver/Dispatcher or Facilities Manager.
- Performs duties of maintenance worker and or custodian as needed such as grounds keeping, building maintenance and custodial duties.
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing facility maintenance / general upkeep duties in various highly skilled trade areas.

- Performs necessary skilled work in more than one area of plumbing, hot water heating (boiler) systems, carpentry, cafeteria equipment repair and other skill trade areas as needed
- Performs carpentry work in repairing or replacing doors, windows, walls, flooring, roofing and any other work pertaining to wood structures, and performs minor construction such as building storage bins, stockroom shelves, counter, work benches, etc. Uses precision hand tools and power tools.
- Performs plumbing, heating, and air-conditioning work in repairing or replacing furnaces, duct work, air conditioners, piping instrument controls, wash basins, toilet facilities and any other work pertaining to heating, air-conditioning and plumbing facilities that doesn’t required a certified technician to perform.
- Performs electrical work in repairing and replacing fluorescent fixtures, control switches, disconnecting wiring and any other work pertaining to electrical facilities that doesn’t require a certified technician to perform.
- Ability to read and work from blueprint specifications.
- Adheres to all PRH, PAG, CDSS and CSDC policies and procedures, and the Center’s Operating Procedures
The Recreation Specialist directs trainees in leisure-time recreation/non-vocational activities and leadership programs.
- Orders and issues materials, supplies, films and game equipment upon supervisor’s review and approval.
- Develops and operates weekly game activities.
- Assists in center-sponsored trips and events.
- Coaches teams engaged in activities on and off center.
- Assists trainees in drama and other creative activities.
- Helps train trainees in recreation/non-vocational aide program.
- Ensures that all programs comply with DOL requirements.
- Transports students as needed to off center events.
- Assists in organization and implementation of the recreation/non-vocational programs and encourages trainees’ participation.
